Mother of the Bride

One of my favorite blogger buddies on Saying I Do had an awesome guest poster a few days back... HER MOM!  It was such a great person to have involved in her blog!!!

Now, I'm not sure if my mom is going to be a guest poster on my blog... I usually have to walk her through web access step by step... but it made me realize that I really haven't talked about the MOB fashion!

I'm an only child, so obviously this is the first time that my mom has been the Mother of the... fill in the blank.  It's usually hard for me to get my mom to buy nice things for herself.  I went up to Indiana last October for her Birthday and tried to buy her a Birthday outfit and it was impossible for me to get her to find something that was fun and fancy, rather than "practical".

So, it didn't surprise me when it was hard for her to pick a MOB dress!  She tried on a lot of dresses, and luckily, nothing to "traditional" as far as MOB dresses go.  I'm not a fan of the long dress, long sleeved jackets, especially when it comes to summer weddings.  I DO want her to look fancy... she's probably the 3rd most important person at the wedding, after me and J, so she should look fantastic!

Here's the dress we found her when we went shopping... I'm pretty sure it's THE dress...

It's super cute.  It is very flattering because the middle is so fitted  that it really accentuates the natural waist and the bottom is loose and soft and it will be great for the summer.  The top is very flattering and the best part is that it's not the kind of dress that is "held on" by the middle of the dress, rather than the top, so you don't feel like you have to keep pulling it up.  How do I know this?  Because they only had my size, so I had to try the dress on for my mom  : )

We found the dress online, and I kind of just wish my mom would buy it!  I know that she wants to lose some weight before the wedding (don't we all), but I am worried that the dress is going to go away!  We found a really great tailor for my dress, so I know that if my mom orders the dress, she will be able to alter it and make it perfect.

I think I'm also going to get my mom a lime green pashmina to go with it, so that she can have something to put over her shoulders if she wants to.  It will also look great with my dad's purple vest/tie combo.  I can't wait for my mom to look so fancy in this dress!!!

  1. Hey! Great post ;) I think this dress is so pretty and omgoodness with a green pashmina and your dad's purple vest/tie those are going to look fabulous together! What's the return policy on the dress? I think you should def. just have her buy it and at least try it and realize how great I'm sure she already looks in it!

Oh and my mom DEF. doesn't understand the internet and all that stuff. She just typed up her entry in an email and I formatted everything for her for the post. Good luck to your mom!

Hi Lexi,Laura's mom here. She sent me the link to your blog.A few bits of advice if I may be so bold. Just buy that fabulous dress for your mom cuzz you know she's not going to.What's the worst that could happen? If she doesn't want to wear it send it back or sell it on e-bay if you can't return it.Listen, while every girl dreams about being a bride and what kind of dress she's going to wear no one dreams about being a MOB or what kind of MOB dress she'll wear! I'm betting you're mom is just understandably nervouse and that's why she's non-committal at this point.Let her try on the dress in her size and help her see what you see. Also, just to clear up my computer skills (or lack thereof!).I composed Laura's blog in word and sent it as an attachment to her. She did all the rest but I just wanted you to know that at least I know how to send attachments! Lol! Good luck to you and your mom!
