Lately, I've seen more brides with no veils and really great hair styles and accessories, but with my curly hair and my desire to look like myself rather than some weird girl with straight hair in an up-do amongst my friends and family, I don't really have that option. No disrespect to all of those beautiful brides who dream just as much about their cathedral veil as they do about their beautiful dress, but veils are so silly to me.
Unfortunately, the look that's going to look the most like "me" will be to pull the front top section of my hair back and pin it at the crown. In order to make my ceremony look complete, I'm going to have to wear a veil. The ceremony is going to be about 30 minutes of my time as a bride, so I'm definitely not interested in paying $300 for a piece of tulle on a comb. I have a great dress and I don't want to take away from it, so I want something really simple.
One of the girls who works for me (sort of) is a fantastic seamstress and I asked her about whether or not she has worked with tulle or if she's ever made a veil and she said she hasn't made one before, but she's pretty sure she can handle my single layer, elbow length veil on a comb... you can find DIY instructions all over the internet. So I bought all the necessary materials and handed them over and now I'm just waiting for her to bring me a sample of her work!
I'm so excited for my home made veil, especially because so far it's only cost me about $15... I guess if I can't make something myself, I'll look for someone who can Do It Her-Self!!
