Recap: My Cousin's Wedding

What a fantastic weekend!  I had so much fun and I really wish that the weekend wouldn't have gone as quickly as it did.

I was in southern Minnesota, where fall has already begun.  The weather was cool and crisp and the air was so clean.  We were on Dream Acres Farm where both my cousin and his fiancé have interned to learn more about organic farming.  All of the food we ate was vegetarian and SO fresh... it either came off the farm or from a local farmer.  They also made each of us napkins to use for the weekend and take home with us.

I was lucky enough to help with the flowers for the wedding, and she used a lot of local grasses and flowers that smelled fantastic and just fit right in with the character that the farm brought to the special day.  The two had been traveling the world for a year so some of the decorations came from their travels and their outfits for the wedding came from India.  Her dress was beautiful, and although it was not the customary Indian wedding dress (in India, white is for mourning and bright colors, especially red, are used for occasions such as weddings) it was the perfect fusion between the two cultures.

Everything about the wedding was very "them"... an intimate, non-traditional (in the best way possible), organic and green celebration of their love, friendship and partnership with close friends and family.

And here are some photo highlights...

The barn... where we saw a slideshow of pictures from their year in the world on Friday, and learned to square dance, and danced our feet off on Saturday night!

Natural grass decorations (assembled by YOURS TRULY)

The garden in the lower pasture

The kitchen, patio and green house where we spent time eating, talking, and laughing!

The "entrance" to the lower pasture and the ceremony area.  You should have seen my uncles riding down the hill in that little soap box derby car... what a show  : )

It's hard to see, but there was a peace sign cut out of the long grass and the chairs were set around it.  An aisle was created by the flowers and goldenrod on either side.

Some of the flower arrangements... local flowers and grass... they were amazing and smelled great!!

THE KISS!  Both of their outfits were made in India.

Their first dance... it was a waltz in the midst of our Contra dancing

What an amazing weekend and a beautiful wedding!!!!
